Selu Terms of Use

The short version

Selu shows the statuses you have already viewed in WhatsApp and lets you keep copies on your phone. The statuses belong to the people who posted them, so save only what you are allowed to keep, and ask before you share or repost someone else’s. Selu is an independent app, and WhatsApp’s own terms still apply to you.

These terms are an agreement between you and NexApp (“we”, “us”), the publisher of Selu: Status Saver (“Selu”, “the app”). By installing or using Selu you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

What Selu is

Selu reads the folder where WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business keep the statuses you have viewed, after you allow it to. From there you can:

  • view those statuses and save them to your gallery,
  • share them, or repost them to your own status,
  • keep copies for up to 7 days, if you turn that on,
  • trim or split videos, save a frame, and convert a video’s sound to audio,
  • manage the space your saves take up, and
  • start a chat with a number without saving it as a contact.

There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours. What the app stores, and what the advertising partners receive, is set out in the privacy policy.

What Selu does not do

  • It does not download statuses from the internet. It only shows statuses that WhatsApp has already put on your phone because you viewed them.
  • It does not change how WhatsApp works. Viewing a status in WhatsApp counts as a view there, as usual.
  • It cannot bring back a status that is no longer on your phone. Keep holds copies only of statuses you view after you turn it on.
  • Private save keeps a file out of your gallery. It is not encrypted and it is not a vault.

Selu is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. “WhatsApp” is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC, and we use the name only to say which app’s statuses Selu works with.

Your use of WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp’s own terms of service. Using Selu does not change them, and you remain responsible for following them.

Respect other people’s statuses

A status is someone else’s photo, video or voice. When you use Selu:

  • Save only what you are allowed to keep. Copyright and privacy law apply to what you save exactly as they apply everywhere else.
  • Ask before you share or repost a status that is not yours, and do not present someone else’s status as your own.
  • Personal use. Selu is for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You may not use Selu to:

  • harass, bully, threaten, shame or blackmail anyone, or to spread their private images, videos or voice notes without their consent;
  • collect, store or pass on material that sexually exploits or endangers a child, in any form, or intimate images of anyone shared without their consent;
  • pass on material that promotes violence, terrorism or hatred against a group of people; or
  • infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or other rights.

You also may not tamper with the app, reverse engineer it in order to redistribute it, or use it to attack another service.

Advertising

Selu is supported by advertising. The ads come from third-party partners, and the privacy policy names them and sets out what they receive. The app keeps ads away from the moments where they get in the way, but it does show them.

No warranty

Selu is provided as it is. It depends on how WhatsApp and Android store files, and either of them can change that at any time, through no act of ours. We do not promise that every status will appear, that every save or split will succeed, or that the app will run without interruption. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost files, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Selu. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer you keep every right your local law gives you.

If you break these terms

We may stop providing the app to you, and may report unlawful activity to the authorities. Because Selu has no account, there is nothing for us to suspend — but these terms still govern your use of it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes. Continuing to use Selu after a change means you accept the new terms.
