Saw a status you would like your own contacts to see — a family photo, a funny video, an announcement? Reposting puts the same photo or video on your own status. Here is how to do it well, and when to ask first.
Repost with Selu
- View the status in WhatsApp first, so the file is on your phone.
- Open it in Selu and tap Repost at the bottom of the viewer.
- WhatsApp opens with the file ready. Choose to post it to My status (or WhatsApp Business, if that is the account you use), add a caption if you like, and send.
Selu passes WhatsApp the original file, exactly as it was saved on your phone, so there is no quality lost on the way. WhatsApp may compress it when it posts, as it does with every status.
Repost several at once
On the Statuses screen, touch and hold a status to start selecting, tick the others, then tap Repost. Useful for an event with many photos.
Repost a long video

When to ask first
A status is someone’s own photo, video or voice. A good rule:
- Ask before you repost anything that shows a person, a child, a home, or a private moment.
- Give credit. Add a caption such as “From Amina” so your contacts know whose it is.
- Do not repost something the person has deleted, or something clearly meant only for close contacts.
- Public announcements, such as a shop’s opening hours or a community event, are usually meant to be passed on — but asking is still polite.
WhatsApp has also been adding its own reshare controls, so people can choose whether others may reshare their status. A repost from a status saver does not go through those controls, which is one more reason to ask.

If you want to send a status to one person or a group rather than your whole status list, tap Share in the viewer and pick the chat or app.
